Goblin Hill is located in the heart of the most beautiful scenery in Jamaica. Nearby are beaches, mountains, waterfalls, caves, rain forests and rafting to explore. With a car you can enjoy them at your own pace but there are drivers in Port Antonio who are on call, and will be available to take you on excursions, or meet your flight if you prefer not to drive.

To begin and end your trip, we recommend the airport lounges and VIP service Club Kingston and Club Montego Bay. For US$25 and up, this lounge at both airports offers complimentary food and cocktails, a conference room, cell and tablet rental, and a kid’s lounge. Contacted ahead of time, they will also expedite the immigration and customs process, assist with baggage retrieval, and arrange ground transportation; and escort groups, seniors, unaccompanied minors and wedding parties through the entire airport experience. If interested, you may book here.

Coach service from either airport or city center to the town center of Port Antonio, and around the island, may be booked at www.knutsfordexpress.com. From Port Antonio, our friend Petey can then take you to Goblin Hill.

We recommend Island Car Rentals (www.islandcarrentals.com), the oldest and largest of the car rental companies in Jamaica, which operates out of both Kingston and Montego Bay airports, if you choose to rent. They can also provide a driver to meet you at either airport and drive you over in your rental car, at an additional cost. (Another driver and car accompanies your car, to bring your driver back to the airport).  If you wish a transfer only, this can be made with Island, or with the local drivers such as Petey who operate from Port Antonio.

We will be happy to inform you of the relevant costs.  Kingston's airport is about three hours' drive from Port Antonio. Montego Bay airport is four hours' drive from Port Antonio.  The maps below have illustrated the transfer routes from Kingston and from Montego Bay.  Below is a slideshow of scenery on the way.

Airplane or helicopter charters are also available to Port Antonio from Kingston (20 minutes) or Montego Bay (40 minutes).

From the airports

Jamaica has two international airports, Norman Manley (KIN) in Kingston, and Donald Sangster (MBJ) in Montego Bay. Kingston is closer but Montego Bay is a straighter road that allow stopping at various attractions along the way if you choose, from Green Grotto Caves to swimming with dolphins to Noel Coward's house.

There are two alternative routes from Kingston. One from the airport going east, and the other going north across the island, then east along the coast.

From Norman Manley International Going East

At the end of the Palisadoes road from the airport, at the roundabout go right eastward toward  Morant Bay. The first hour of the journey is through predominantly dry terrain, as this part of the coast is in the rain shadow of the Blue Mountains. However, after Morant Point the landscape becomes increasingly green. When you reach San San, you will find yourself in a lush paradise.

Travel time:  about two and a half hours.

From Norman Manley International going north through Kingston and then east along the coast.

At the end of the Palisadoes road, we go left at the round about. Going through Kingston, it is recommended to have a driver or guide who knows how to navigate through the city, to Constant Spring and along the Junction road which follows a winding river with bamboo-covered hillsides. Once on the coast the road is superb, having been recently completed and offering views of the Blue Mountains, rivers, and coastline. This is a very scenic route

Travel time: a little over two and a half hours

From Sangster International  Airport

Traveling from Sangster International, we go east along the north coast from Montego Bay, though Falmouth, Ocho Rios, Tower Isle, Oracabessa, all well known tourist towns.

We recommend you take a full day for this route due to the distance. A good place to stop for lunch is at Scotchies and there are two main attractions in Ocho Rios. Dunn's River Falls, and Dolphin Cove.

Travel time: four hours

Goblin Hill east to Reach Falls; west to Port Antonio.

To Reach Falls,  you pass several lovely spots along the way, including Winfred and Boston Beaches - the latter the home of surfing and 'jerk' seasoning in Jamaica, and Long Bay.

Port Antonio has the Errol Flynn Marina and its harborside esplanade, with a must- visit ice cream shop. There is a bustling market, the remains of an 18th-century fort, a cenotaph honoring World War 1 dead, and examples of traditional island architecture among more recent additions.
